Stadium Support Presented to Council by GTNSC

By: Emma Gillingham
Date: 07/02/2002

ON Friday 1st Feb 2002, representatives from the Grimsby Town New Stadium Campaign (GTNSC) met Ian King of NELC's Planning Department.

GTNSC presented Mr King with letters and messages of support from people supporting the proposal to build a new Stadium for Grimsby Town FC on the site adjacent to Great Coates.

The campaign, which was organised by Grimsby Town fans independently of the club, was launched in order to provide supporters of the proposal with a way of airing their views in a constructive form. Over 100 handwritten letters, along with a petition containing several hundred electronic ‘signatures’ and messages were collected.

Mr King, who is a Senior Planning Officer, said that ‘although supporters of the proposal are no longer allowed to make formal supporting representations, the letters and petition will form a core document which will be available to all involved, including the inspector... Mr King then headed towards the administration department to get the documents officially "checked in".

Tim Harvey, GTFC's Press Officer, passed on the clubs thanks to everyone involved in the campaign. GTNSC would also like to thank everybody that has either signed the petition or sent a letter so far. Those still wishing to register their support can do so either in writing to:

Grimsby Town New Stadium Campaign, 19D Park Drive, Huddersfield, W Yorks, HD12 4EB

or via the petition available on this site.

All new correspondence received will be forwarded to NELC to be included with that already handed over.
