Is football a business or a sport?

We Should Have Won!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 08/04/2002

TERRY Cooke who scored town's equalizer against Norwich on Saturday with his first goal in 18 months said "We should have won. It's a great result but we're all disappointed that we haven't come away with all three points.

"We had some great chances in the second half and we absolutely battered them. Everyone's upbeat and I'm surprised that this team is where they are in the table. They should be a lot higher and not fighting relegation."

Cooke told the Grimsby Telegraph that he was "running on empty" when he scored. "I came here to play first team football and I've been given that chance. But I was shattered because it's my first game of the season.

"I'd been itching for a game and the adrenaline pumped through me and kept me going. But in the last 10 minutes my legs were gone."

"We're doing well and the spirit here is great. Everyone knows Grovesy has given me a chance to get involved and playing.

"I'm here to play as well as I can and if Grimsby offer me a contract I'd look at it and it would be nice to stay. I hope it's all going to turn around for me after having to stick it out for so long at Manchester City."

Willie Falconer who played for 70 minutes said "It's important for us to capitalise on that game and hopefully that would be enough to stay up.

"But it's going to be hard because being the home team puts the pressure on you to go out and attack. But we've showed a lot of spirit in the last few games and this was a big point."

Admitting that it had taken time for him to gel with Paul Robinson he said: "As the game went on we got a bit of understanding going, but it's just about getting to know each other's strengths. Trying to read Robbo is like trying to read a dictionary."
