MICHAEL Boulding will join up with Premiership side Middlesbrough this week as he looks to fulfil his dream of playing in the top flight but gave hope to Mariners fans that he might return.

Speaking to the Grimsby Sports Telegraph Boulding revealed that he is excited at the prospect of training with Middlesbrough's World Cup stars. "I've been watching nearly all the World Cup and Middlesbrough have got some fantastic players

"They've signed Maccarone as well and I've been watching Boskic and thinking about it - but I've just got to see what happens".

The trial has yet to be confirmed and with the possible departure of Boro boss Steve McClaren to Leeds the trial may never take place. "I hope to be going up there next week. It just has to be confirmed." the pacy striker said.

Asked if he would return to Grimsby if the trial didn't work out Boulding gave hope to Mariners fans in his reply "If Grimsby still want me I'll be doing that. That's what it looks like.

"But Grovesy can't wait around for me for ever and I can't expect him to".
