Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Millwall Preview

By: Paul Holmes
Date: 29/08/2002

LESS than a month into the season, Town encounter their first six-pointer of sorts against Mark McGhee’s Millwall.

After Monday’s 4-5-1 formation against Portsmouth will manager Paul Groves try the system away from home? I don’t think so. Like Town, Millwall are a 4-4-2 team with wingers. Playing five in the middle would serve no purpose.

Town are of course without Steve Livingstone, Robert Taylor and Steve Croudson. Chris Thompson featured for the reserves but is unlikely to make the squad.

Millwall are without Irish internationals Steven Reid and Richard Sadlier through injury whilst highly rated midfielder David Livermore should return after completing his suspension on Tuesday.

Last Time Out

21-04-2002 Millwall 3 Grimsby 1

Having already secured safety with the win over Burnley, nothing was dependent on the game - for Town at least. Despite a Danny Butterfield equaliser early on, The Lions led by Dion Dublin ran out worthy winners 3-1. The game was the last time Mssrs Butterfield, Todd, Boulding and Allen were seen in Black and White stripes.Report

Millwall Head-to-Head (38th on The Opposition Ladder).

Danger Man

Neil Harris Even though the likes of Reid and Sadlier are out of action, the attacking threat is still strong and Neil Harris is one of the best strikers outside the Premiership. Having overcome testicular cancer, Harris is back to his best and proved that in April with two goals against Town. Tim Cahill and Paul Ifill will create chances for Harris and watch out for young Ben May who will partner Harris.
