April Player of the Month

ANOTHER season has finished and another relegation has been forced upon us due to the poor season Town had. Hopefully next season we will have the squad and the fans to make a promotion rush or a play-off place now the League have altered the format with teams in 8th place and above qualifying.

So here are the six contenders for the last Player of the Month award on the Fishy until the start of next season:
Georges Santos. Big Georges had catapulted himself to cult status amongst the Town fans with the way he plays and the way he’s stood out in a poor defence this season. Hopefully he will stay next year and then will help The Mariners towards a play-off place at least.
Michael Keane. A loan signing from Preston just before the deadline. Keane is a midfield player in the Alan Pouton mould, and if we could keep him would excel in the 2nd Division. He's another Eire Under 21 international and earlier on this month was substituted because he would have been sent off otherwise.
John McDermott. After 16 years at the club we will be sad to see him go in the summer as he will want another challenge before he decides to hang his boots up. I know there will be a queue of clubs banging on his front door for his signature after the performances he has shown in a Mariners' shirt over the years.
Steve Chettle. Steve came from Barnsley at the start of this season and if he had remained injury-free he could have formed a good partnership with Big Georges. Fifteen years at Nott'm Forest, most of them under Brian Clough, has made Chettle a good centre half
Terry Cooke. Now Terry has opened his heart out about this season at Blundell Park, I think he has underachieved and has only got himself to blame because with the pedigree he’s shown in the past would have made himself a better player in the long run
Danny Coyne. Better known as Wales’s number 4 goalie and the only Welshman out of them he will be going through another summer not knowing where his future lies in football. Being Town’s biggest earner and Grimsby, if the offer is right (or more accurately if there is an offer!), will be looking to offload him soon
Here’s the six players that have been chosen by you the Fishy readers and this is the last vote for this season and all this will start again next season when Town will be plying their trade in the 2nd Division. Thanks to all to you for voting and making this what it should be.
UP THE MARINERS FOR NEXT SEASON!!!
