Flash Scores Three!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 13/12/2004

DARREN Mansaram bagged three goals in an extraordinary 6-4 reserves' victory over local rivals Boston United this afternoon. The Doncaster-born striker, who has just recovered from a back injury, will be hoping that Russell Slade gives him another chance in the Town first team.

Mansaram recently spent two months on loan at Conference outfit Halifax, where he scored 4 goals in just 8 games. The West Yorkshire club were sufficiently impressed by the 20-year-old to make an offer for Mansaram on his return to Blundell Park, but which Town turned down, dismissing it as "derisory".

Mansaram's subsequent back injury meant negotiations between the clubs ceased, but with Grimsby's current forwards seemingly unable to score the former Youth player will have done his chances of a first team recall no harm at all.

The six footer has been a prolific goal scorer throughout his career in Youth and Reserve team football, but to date has failed to score on a regular basis for the Town first team.

Coldicott, Jones and Hildred were the other Town scorers in the ten goal thriller.
