Coldicott to Leave

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 30/06/2005

MIDFIELDER Stacy Colidcott has confirmed he is to leave Blundell Park, despite being offered a new one year contract. Although Coldicott has not yet found a new club to move to, the 31-year-old feels he needs a new challenge in his career.

The former Baggie told the Grimsby Telegraph: "After seven years here, I felt at the end of the season that it was probably time for a change. Sometimes you can get stale after so long at a club and need a new challenge."

Coldicott joined Division One newcomers Grimsby immediately after their promotion via the play-offs at the end of their annum mirablis of 1998. Manager Alan Buckley brought him to Blundell Park for £125K from his former club WBA.

"Yard Dog" was a regular in the first team in each of his seven years at Blundell Park, but it will be for his performances in midfield alongside Alan Pouton in the Division One era that most Town fans will remember Stacy Colidcott for.

John McDermott is now the only survivor at the club from the Alan Buckley era.
