Have a Miserable Day!

WITH the January transfer window now closed, Russell Slade has the squad he has chosen to take us to the end of the season and promotion barring any hitches along the way.
I think he can do that. Slade has handpicked the squad he now manages and in that regard he has done a great job.
Most of the players he has brought in been better than we had, which shows he has an 'eye' for players. A few of his signings have not made their mark and have moved on. But no manager gets it right in every signing they make. Ask some of the big Premier clubs.
But what surprises and pleases me is that the players we have let go during the transfer window period have all moved to other clubs either for nominal fees or on a free.
And if we look at the players who have been on loan with us and have signed contracts with us shows that the old adage "No one wants to come to Grimsby" is garbage.
Get the right manager and the right results, and any player who we could afford, would see Grimsby as the place to be.
It has been many seasons since that was the case and the person who has achieved that is Russell Slade.
Town may not be in the 'beautiful football' league, but we are among the top runners of League 2.
And Slade has achieved that despite the poor support he has had from some sections of the fans, despite all the criticisms from the so called guru's among us, and despite the poor vocal support at BP compared to the away support.
I think that the Lincoln, Boston and Scunny fans would appreciate Slade more if they were in the same position as we are in the league.
They would be calling for him to be knighted!
Instead, Grimsby fans, or at least a section of them, are calling for him to be hung!
But that's Grimsby fans. They just cannot stand anyone who takes their daily misery away from them by giving them something to be happy about.
Dare I say; Up the Mariners!
