Trio to Miss Chester

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 20/02/2006

THE postponement of Grimsby's game against Rochdale on Saturday means Grimsby will now have three players suspended against Chester on Saturday. Gary Croft's one match suspension will now take place at the same time as Michael Reddy's and JP Kalala's.

The match on Saturday was called off due to the poor quality of the playing surface at Spotland, despite the weather on the day not being particularly bad. The postponement meant Grimsby dropped out of the top three automatic promotion places for the first time since September.

On the plus side the extra rest gives a chance for the injured trio of Justin Whittle, John McDermott and Marc Goodfellow to get back to full match fitness and earn a recall to the side.

In truth Town have not been firing on all cylinders since the busy festive period, since when the injury list has never had a chance to settle down.

Meanwhile Chester have been given the dubious fillip of having a unnamed new manager, to be appointed on Tuesday morning, following the departure of former boss Keith Curle on Saturday night.
