Beat the Bookies: Week 36

By: Rob Sedgwick

LAST weekend was a weekend to forget as both Boston and Shrewsbury failed to beat their opponents and the Mariners likewise lost again at Notts County.

This weekend Grimsby travel to MK Dons who are strong favourites to inflict Town's third consecutive defeat. Looking down Town's remaining fixtures I wouldn't expect to see them picking up many more points, and I find it hard to find a case for anything other than a home win on Saturday, but if you fancy Grimsby to do well they are long odds to return victorious from Milton Keynes at 9/2.

Elsewhere in League Two Wrexham travel to Macclesfield in the relegation six pointer of the day. It's getting to the stage of the season when an established league club like Wrexham tend to find a bit of form and pull themselves out of trouble, as they have been doing with only 1 defeat in 5, and that was MK Dons away. Macclesfield, who have only played 1 game at home in the last month, have failed to get out of trouble and I can see them losing this game and going below the Welsh Dragons. Wrexham are a tempting 11/5 to collect all three points and push Macclesfield back into serious danger of relegation.

Wycombe are doing what they did last year and falling out of the promotion picture. Shrewsbury were going great guns until their games in hand have started to catch up with them recently and they have lost their last two. However it is six games since Wycombe recorded a win, and Shrewsbury and worth backing to return to winning ways at 2/1

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Wrexham to beat Macclesfield (11/5).
  • 2. Shrewsbury to beat Wycombe (2/1).
