April Player of the Month

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 04/05/2007

APRIL saw the Mariners in a position where they could go neither up nor down, but 4 out of the 5 games Town played during the month meant a good deal to the opposition.

Home > 2006-2007 Season > Player of the Month > April

The six players nominated by our readers for the April Player of the Month award are as follows:

Phil Barnes - Although Barnes didn't have the greatest of games at Accrington the Town stopper has kept two clean sheets in April and put in some good performances.

Paul Bolland - Always a crowd favourite, Bolland has a "good engine" in midfield and likes to get forward into the box where he gets his fair share of goals.

Danny Boshell - Bosh has come on enormously this season. He was signed as a squad player after having been released by Stockport, but has progressed into a prominent place in Alan Buckley's thinking in midfield.

Nick Fenton - Mr dependable at the back, Town's best defender but was pipped to the Player of the Year award by his partner Justin Whittle.

Danny North - Scored his first hattrick of the season in the 5-0 thrashing of Barnet and the local lad has come from nowhere this season to become Town's first choice striker.

Justin Whittle - Whitts is a no-nonsense defender who has formed a commanding partnership with Nick Fenton in central defence. After being voted for the Fishy's Player of the Season, Whittle turned a coaching offer on the continent to sign up for another year with Blundell Park.
