Beat the Bookies: Week 11

By: Rob Sedgwick

BEAT the Bookies is on a roll! Three winning weeks on the trot have managed to claw back the deficit, although unfortunately at the expense of both England sides in what was a terrible sporting week for English Grimbarians.

Grimsby have a crunch game with Bradford this weekend. City have won both of their last two visits to Blundell Park, although it doesn't mean a great deal as they were both 5 to 6 years ago in the Championship. Bradford are having an equally bad season to Town after relegation last year: a 0-0 draw for the Bantams at home to Darlington last week ended a run of five league defeats on the trot (we are currently on four). This match could honestly go either way. I'm more tempted at Bradford on 2/1 than I am on Grimsby at 6/5 but Town will be desperate to make amends for last week and Butler may make the difference up front on previous home games when we have failed to create enough chances.

Elsewhere in League Two Macclesfield face on form Bury at Moss Rose. Macclesfield have only won 1 out of 7, whereas Bury have won 4 out of 7 and drawn the other three. Bury, who won the equivalent fixture last year, are a bargain 21/10 with bet365 to grab another 3 points.

Notts County are on a dreadful run at the moment and have a relegation six pointer with Wrexham at home. County just seem to be on a downward spiral right now despite sacking their manager and the Red Dragons are value to record an away victory at 5/2 with bet365.

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Bury to beat Macclesfield (21/10, bet365).
  • 2. Wrexham to beat Notts County (5/2, bet365).
