NTFC wouldnt exsist without our New Stadium, and it seems a shame your council want to stop your club goint marketable assett this town has got,and they shoot them down when they should have been sending them and the whole town forward.
These councillors are not to be trusted, they once told the club this was the ideal location, now they say its not.Remember that come the next election.

Jul 16, 2000 00:24:15 cheznick@ntlworld.com Nick Osborne Grimsby England 212.250.111.108
So who do these councillors represent? They where elected to represent their constituents right? So why do they vote against them?If all the polls show a massive 80% for the stadium how come they voted against it.Might just be because they where voting for their own political ends, and judging by the response so far,it could well be the end for them(politically).
GTFC is by far the biggest marketable assett this town has got,and they shoot them down when they should have been sending them and the whole town forward.
These councillors are not to be trusted, they once told the club this was the ideal location, now they say its not.Remember that come the next election.

I AM SHOCKED AT THE DECISION OF OUR LOCAL COUNCILLORS, VOTING AGAINST THE NEW GTFC STADIUM,JUST WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO DO,ARE THEY TRYING TO DISTROY OUR ONLY INTEREST IN GTFC,AS IT APPEARS THEY DO NOT PROMOTE GRIMSBY IN GENERAL, LET ALONE OUR FOOTBALL CLUB, ONE OF THE OLDEST CLUBS IN THE LEAGUES, THIS ALONE KEEPS GRIMSBY ON THE MAP,IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THESE COUNCILLORS HAVE INTEREST IN LOCAL AFFAIRS IF IT BENEFIT"S THEMSELVES, AND NOT THE MAJORITY OF THE LOCAL POPULATION, COME ON GRIMSBY FOLK WAKE UP AND SUPPORT OUR NEW STADIUM AND DISPOSE OF THESE INCOMPETENCE COUNCILLORS AT THE NEXT ELECTION.

I AGREE WITH ALL THE OTHER COMMENTS. HOW DO THE SHORT SIGHTED MEMBERS OF NE LINCS COUNCIL EXPECT THE CLUB TO SURVIVE. AN OVERWELMING NUMBER OF THE PEOPLE WHO RESPONDED TO THE REFERENDUM WANTED THE NEW STADIUM. SO THOSE PEOPLE ELECTED BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO RESPONDED SHOULD HAVE DONE AS THEY WISHED AND NOT FOLLOW SOME OTHER UNKNOWN AGENDA. I HOPE THE PEOPLE WHO CAN VOTE GET RID OF THEM ALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
UP THE MARINERS

Something stinks about this decision and the vote - now the dust is tarting to settle questions must be asked of all the bold councillors who voted against the stadium. Each member of the council should have the balls to state why he or she voted against - was it the 'green field site' aspect, the Great Coates NIMBYs or what and further, each member of the council should be asked to justify publically if their vote was against the wishes of the electorate in their ward.I urge all of you resident in Grimsby wards to speak to you localcouncillor and to askhim why he went against your wishes and that of the majority of the electorate in the ward.
Most important of all however is the whole aspect of this decision, something stinks here -I cant helpwondering whether the scheme would have been voted out if Bill Carr ha still been Chairman, perhaps Hux has enemies on the council or the 'old boys' network is at work here.
Every councillor should be required to state whether he or she was offered any inducement financial or otherwise to vote one way or the other on this issue.
The whole thing stinks of a bung to someone somewhere !

I hope people of Grimsby have a long memory so when it comes to the next council elections. The bastards are voted off.

Its just unbelievable - they should all be shot!!!! How the hell can a few councillors that fuck all about football make such a decision and put the future of a first division club in so much danger?
We must appeal and show them we deserve the stadium.

Don't let the narrow minded fat-cat councillors get you down!! Some people just don't realise how important your "Local Heroes" are!! Dundee FC have had to put up with the same sort of narrow mindedness for years, by a numbon its feet.
The new stadium is going to be the shot in the arm that will revitalise the Mariners, and the Town as a whole, and they have just consigned the Mariners to the terminal ward.
Also to the NIMBYs in Gt Coates: I lived in the shadow of Blundell Park for nearly thirty years, indeed my brother and my sister were BORN nearer to the ground that you tossers will live to the proposed new stadium, and we had no trouble at all.
In fact we had moer trouble getting to sleep on singalong nights in the Imp.

Do the council not realise that GTFC is the best commercial asset that they have, and it is dying on its feet.

What is wrong with you people, I know money is difficuly but move forward will you. YOU MUST ALLOW GRIMSBY FC to build this stadium. You represent the people, DO WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT. In the USA you would be kicked out for this. SUPPORT YOU LOCAL FOOTBALL TEAM NOW. I am not a Grimsby football fan but I support people trying to bring the game into the 21st Century, unfortunately you do not !

The decision stinks as much as Grimsby (a bit of a joke)
On a more serious note, i cant see the council holding
out much longer

Stand up, be loud and don't stop until we've won.
Public opinion does make a difference. Remember
the poll tax riots !!!!!

Something as they say smells fishy!
I really felt that the site, plans and proposals were excellent and would produce something all from Grimsby to feel good about. It would help bring good players to the Club too.
So why when almost 80% of our population agree that it is a good proposal, do a few councillors who are supposed to represent the public vote against it. What signals does this put out to other potential investors in the town. Surely the large old KP building is more of an eyesore to residents of Great Coates and that was passed for planning!! I do not trust these councillors and will certainly ensure that I do not vote for them. This is a real setback for Grimsby not just the football club.

This council should be ashamed of themselves. They should be representing the people who elected them, and not there own bigoted views. This town needed a new stadium, and now it looks like we should have some new councillors.

I wish to express my furious reaction to the decision regarding the non development of a new home for GTFC, and our utter contempt for the people who supposedly have the interests of N.E.Lincolnshire at heart. I refer, of course, to the gang of 20 calling themselves OUR councillors who voted no to the new stadium development. Their decision to vote against the superb project to develop a new stadium for our professional football club, has most probably signed its death warrant as a participant in the higher echelons of English professional football.I'm sure the environmentally enlightened people objecting to the stadium won't want to disturb the residents around the Macaulay street site, or near any supermarket for that matter with their nasty cars. They must have superb vegetable gardens!
Supporters of GTFC who travel the country to represent OUR town and OUR club do the best we can to argue against the case that Grimsby/Cleethorpes is an insular/backward/end of the line place. I was proud to call myself a Grimbarian. I shouldn't have bothered. It is plain for all to see that the world revolves around lovely pastoral villages, where the vices of the horrible urban hordes cannot travel. Make no mistake the proposed site for the stadium IS the best one for OUR area. I'm sure all the anti-GTFC people don't feel sorry for us 'scum' who follow football. I doubt very much whether GTFC will be able to move in the near future. As a consequence the Main stand should be demolished, before it falls down. This means continued and extra disturbance, particularly for the residents living only a few yards away from Blundell Park, and other residents of Cleethorpes who will have continued disruption on Match days. Still those people live in urban Terrace houses, not nice semi-detached or detached properties. If the people who claim to represent us are typical of this area, then we do not deserve to have a first division football club. I never thought I'd hear myself saying that places like Preston, Stoke, Reading, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Swansea, and even West Bromich deserve the riches of having high profile clubs. We can become one of those well known places like Newport, Accrington, Aldershot, and Maidstone. I would like to thank the Grimsby Evening Telegraph for printing the names of the culprits, as the thousands of real Grimbarians will be able to make them pay at the appropriate time.

I still cant believe that 20 people who are supposed to represent the people of this town can make such a decision. The town is the butt of a lot of jokes but the one thing that the town can be so proud of is the football team.I remember a couple of years ago standing outside the town hall as the team showed off the auto shield and celebrated a play off wembley win, the council were very happy then to slap themselves on the back.Whats happened to our MP`s they are very quiet. We may have lost the battle but we will win the war!

How can a team like Lincoln City have a quality stadium in the third division, when GTFC in the first have what is basically a series of garden sheds? There is something amiss somewhere is there not? Sort yourselves out NELC!!!

What the hell is going on? All the bent councillors are trying to be popular and failing miserably. To all those idiots in Great Coates I hope the factories spill chemicals on to your homes.

I hope everyone has sent a protest email to the council outlining the bad taste left in their mouth after the vote. Any council interested in it's electorate would then take notice of the disquiet in the town and move for a re-vote. A council that is corrupt and taking backhanders from unknown sources would stick by its unjustified decision, and do nothing about it.....
Catch my drift?

Well the council really has it in for GTFC i can't believe what they have done!! Do they really want GTFC to go bankrupt? Every member of the council should be shot and lets bring in some people who have sense and the support GTFC needs to survive!!!
