New Trialists Factfile

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 06/09/2000

We've been finding out about the three new foreign trialists who will be arriving at Blundell Park shortly in a bid to try and win a contract with the Mariners. This is the information we have managed to gather.

Here are the details we have managed to gather so far on the three new trialists.

  • Juan Manuel Prieto Velasco is a an uncompromising, pacy and abrasive central defender who last played for Celta Vigo in the Spanish league. Prieto's date of birth is 17-5-77. He has 5 International caps with Spain.

Velasco helped Sevilla to promotion last summer and moved to Celta Vigo where he became a regular in their defence. Prior to that he played for Sociedad Deportiva Compostela in the 98-99 season. Velasco started his career as a forward and has very quick feet.

  • Moises Alvarez Goya is a left-sided or central defender who last played for Club Deportivo Tenerife in the Spanish first division. Prior to Tenerife, Goya played for Numancia in the 98-99 season. Goya's date of birth is 30-01-78, he is 6 foot tall and 12 1/2 stone in weight.

  • Sascha Lenhart is a left-footed forward or attacking midfielder. This is his recent record in German football:

    97/98 Wuppertal (GER) 13 appearances, 2 goals
    98/99 Wuppertal (GER) 29 appearances, 3 goals
    99/00 Oberhausen (GER 2nd Division)

Lenhart played for Leicester very briefly in 1996 making 1 appearance. His date of birth is 16/12/1973.
