Fans Lose Confidence

By: Stephen Bateman

As the pressure on Grimsby manager Lennie Lawrence increases after his side's shock exit from the FA Cup last night, the latest update of results from an Electronic Fishcake survey clearly indicate that the majority of fans feel that he has lost his grip since arriving at Blundell Park.

In the latest 'Fred And Bert' poll, a staggering 71% of fans believe that Lawrence has 'lost the plot' after Town's humiliation at the hands of Wycombe. With Grimsby currently just one point from the foot of the First Division, it seems that patience is already wearing thin.

As of Wednesday evening, 82% of Town supporters believe that Lawrence's ploy of squad rotation and regularly switching between players is wrong, whilst a further 66% feel that the manager is favouring his recent overseas signings.

Possibly more worrying for the Town boss is the fact that an amazing 78% are of the opinion that he is regularly employing the wrong tactics.

When asked whether or not Lawrence is a better manager than former gaffer Alan Buckley, 73% of voters responded that he is either worse or no better.

These are indeed worrying times for both the manager of Grimsby Town and supporters alike. It now seems inevitable that unless performances start to show dramatic signs of improvement, it will merely be a matter of time before the Grimsby public lose their confidence entirely in the former-Luton Town boss.
