French Striker Trial

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 19/01/2001

Reports from Blundell Park are that French striker Cyril Eboki-Poh currently with French side SC Bastia, will be arriving Monday for a week and it is hoped that he will play a reserves game to allow Lennie Lawrence to assess him.

Presently available on loan he could well be offered a position with the Mariners if he impresses. Previously with Cannes he joined Bastia in 1999.

This is the latest show of interest by manager Lennie Lawrence who has wasted no time in searching for replacements for the loan players currently with the Mariners but who are expected to rejoin their own clubs next week.

Yesterday Leeds United striker was also stated to be on Lennie's wanted list and Planet Football in an article today suggested that Grimsby Town were re-opening their interest in Phil Jevons of Everton.

It is understood however that Jevons is needed by Everton due to their injury list problems. There has been no confirmation by the club that this report is accurate.

Eboki-Poh Stats:

  • Position: Striker
  • Nationality: French
  • Date of birth: 11/09/1979
  • Place of Birth: Montreal, Canada
  • Height: 5'7'' (1.70 m)
  • Weight: 11st 11lb (75 kg)
