Grimsby Town have taken 7 players on trial this week, two of whom are from Manchester United. With Lee Mathews the Leeds United striker and Dutch goalkeeper Ronald Ermes currently at Blundell Park, the additional 5 players are expected to join them during the next few days.
Danny Thomas a defender from Leicester, striker Damian Curran and midfielder Tom Kearney from Everton with Mark Studley and Michael Rose from Manchester United are all looking to secure a position with clubs having been informed of their pending release from their own clubs.
Both Manchester players are expected to be in the lineup for the reserves away game at Darlington this week with Lee Matthews also figuring in the team.
Only Matthews and Thomas, has had any first team action.
Thomas made three substitute appearances for Leicester as a defender and Matthews has played for the Leeds first team and Gillingham and Notts County.
Studley, a 19-year-old defender, he is said to have impressed Tranmere Rovers reserve-team coach Ray Mathias when he recently returned to Old Trafford after a trial with Rovers.
Former United Under-19 midfielder Rose has also returned from a recent trial with Bolton Wanderers.
Grimsby will be hoping that strikers Curran or Lee Matthews, might prove good enough to help them in their fight against relegation.
