Boro's Campbell Targeted

NEWS FROM a usually reliable source at Middlesbrough says that Grimsby Town are seeking to sign £2 million-rated 6ft striker Andy Campbell on loan for a month. Also in the race to sign him is Huddersfield's manager Lou Macari who has been watching Campbell for two seasons.

Middlesbrough's manager Bryan Robson said: "Andy is not for sale, but I am looking at the possibility of him going out on loan for a month. There are one or two clubs from the First Division showing interest and we'll have to see what develops."

Other sources claim that Campbell is going on loan to Scottish premier club Aberdeen and we are attempting to confirm the accuracy of this report

The six foot striker was born in Middlesbrough and initially established himself in the Boro first team and was a key figure in the England Under-21 side that played in the European Championships in Slovakia two years ago.

In an interview recently the 21 year old striker said "In the past it has crossed my mind that I would have to move away to get first team football. When the top stars have become available the manager has gone out and bought them and that has put a dampener on my career, but he has spoken to me and told me that I am still part of his plans, so that is nice to know."

    Aberdeen have now denied their interest in Andy Campbell saying that they looked at him but are not interested in a loan deal
