Four New Trialists!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 20/03/2001

LATEST news today is that 4 more trialists are due at Blundell Park shortly. Obviously with the transfer deadline looming they will not be included in this season's campaign plans but appear to be part of the future plans of manager Lennie Lawrence.

Anthony McStea from Middlesbrough is being looked at with a view to a permanent deal. Mariners Net reported today that he will be allowed to train with the squad and play in a couple of reserves games. McStea came through the youth academy at the Riverside Stadium and was snapped up after only one closed door game at Forthbank and spent 4 months with Stirling Albion last year on loan.

Career details

Height: 5'10
Date of Birth: 16/5/81
Place of Birth: Gateshead
Nationality: English
Clubs: Middlesbrough, Stirling Albion (Loan)
Position: Right Back

Tom Upsher, Antony Howard and Justin Wilson from Fulham are also coming in for a trial period.

With the door almost closed on transfers and loan players, Lawrence has not ceased his search for players and his quest for additions to strengthen the squad go on. Since his arrival Lawrence has approached almost 50 players in his attempt to bring new blood into Blundell Park and his work rate in this area has been tremendous.

With these new arrivals signalling his intentions for next season, there may well be a crop of new signings to look forward to at the start of next season but the single deciding factor will be the final position town occupy at the end of this one.
