Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Coldicott on Struggle

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 12/04/2001

TOWN MIDFIELDER Stacy Coldicott spoke of the boost that Saturday's 3-1 win over Tranmere had given to the team: "To be fair, it was everything we needed. We went 1-0 down, so to pull it around in the manner that we did was very pleasing and it takes us nicely into next week's game with Watford."

The Lambeth born midfielder told Mariners Net "We have got different agendas really, we are battling at the bottom of the division, and they're fighting for a play-off spot. At this stage of the season it is just a case of getting yourself up for games, getting organised, and then hopefully getting a result. I don't think we can afford to take draws anymore, it's not going to be draws that keep us in the division, so we have got to go for the win."

Town have a tough run in for the final six games, four of which are at Blundell Park, and all against the top nine sides in the division. "It's a very difficult run-in, but on paper the Watford match perhaps represents one of our best chances of winning a game, so it's an opportunity that we have to take." said the battling midfielder.

"There's a lot of teams in it, but it seems to me, and you can see from Tuesday night, that a lot of teams are still picking up good points, even away from home. It's a case of just going forward, and trying to get on a decent run for the last half a dozen games - that's the only thing that will keep us in this division."

Coldicott concluded by dimissing any fears about his fitness, saying: "I have had a bit of a sore achilles but hopefully it will have cleared up by the weekend, and hopefully I'll be involved on Saturday." With influential midfielder Wayne Burnett rated doubtful for the games over the Easter period , Coldicott's presence will be a crucial factor over the long weekend.
