Boro Trialists Given Chance

By: Jostein Jensen
Date: 04/09/2001

LENNIE LAWRENCE has brought in two new trialists from his former club Middlesboro. Anthony Ormerod (22) is a winger with English U-18 caps whilst Christian Hanson (20) is a left-footed defender mostly used in a central role.

Ormerod, a young winger with an eye for the spectacular, has made 19 appearances for Boro since he joined them in '96, and has also been on loan to Carlisle United, Bury and York City. Hanson has previously had a loan stint with Cambridge United.

Both players are under contract with the Riverside club, and expected to play against Blackpool in Wednesday's Avon Insurance League fixture. Hanson has already played for the Reserves last week against Doncaster.

Town boss Lennie Lawrence has postponed his planned trip to Scandinavia this week as he has had a lot of others engagements. On Thursday an announcement is expected from Blundell Park about David Beharall's future at the club.

The final game of his loan spell from Newcastle is against Coventry on Saturday and it is believed Lawrence's time is partly being taken up by talks at prolonging the Geordie defender's stay, probably in a season-long loan capacity.
