Livvo Quarantined!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 08/10/2001

GRIMSBY TOWN striker Steve Livingstone has been placed under quarantine along with the rest of his immediate family after his wife was diagnosed as suffering from tuberculosis. The burly front man, who has missed the whole of the season through injury, is resting with his wife and two sons at home.

Livingstone has been placed under quarantine restrictions at his Middlesbrough home as a precaution, with fears that he may cause an epidemic at the club if he were to participate in training sessions.

"We've stayed in the house." the 32-year-old striker told the Grimsby Telegraph. "The doctor didn't order us to but he said until Rebecca has been on the tablets for a while it's contagious for seven to ten days. We have to wait to see the nurse to test the rest of us."

Livingstone is due to see a cardiovascular specialist later this week for further investigations into the cause of the calf problem which has kept him out of action for all of this season.

The Mariners have plenty of injury worries of there own without fears of an epidemic to deplete further their severely stretched squad before tomorrow's trip to Anfield. With Wayne Burnett highly doubtful, David Beharall cup-tied, and Menno Willems (hamstring) still out, Lawrence may be forced to turn to Stacy Coldicott, who has himself just returned for 45 minutes reserve team action last week.

"The bench at least will be young and inexperienced" said Lawrence, who will have to employ some of his first year professionals such as Chris Bolder and Simon Ford to make up the numbers at Anfield.
