Boulding Wants a Win Against His Home Town Club

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 09/11/2001

MICK BOULDING was born in Sheffield and lives only 5 minutes walk away from Hillsborough but would love to get the winning goal as Jevons did at Liverpool. With strong family links to the Blades he knows the enemy more than most.

In an interview with the Grimsby Telegraph he said: "My uncle played for the Blades, Tom Fennoughty, and all mum's family support United. My liitle brother Rory is in the United Academy and my Grandad was mad on them, he used to go to Reserve games and everything.

"I'm really looking forward to it and most of my mates up here are Owls fans so I'm getting a bit of gip. But nothing would please me more than scoring against them."

"I'm starting to settle in a litte bit and find my feet. Hopefully I can keep scoring and keep improving"

"There's five strikers at the club and I prefer playing up front but I don't mind playing down the left side if I have to, and if it means I'm in the team."

On Sheffield Wednesday he said: "They're a massive club and it is shocking that they're in that mess. It sounds like there's financial problems there but that's affecting a few clubs. They've got some really good attacking players but if we really get at them and get an early goal they might struggle.

"We are more than capable of doing it and an early goal would put them under pressure and get the fans on their back."
