Marlon Broomes Talks Going On!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 11/12/2001

MANAGER Lennie Lawrence finally received the go ahead to sign Marlon Broomes yesterday afternoon. At the board meeting it was agreed to offer him a 6 months contract.

But it is not over yet. Broomes and his agent will be meeting again this afternoon to try to thrash out a deal which will not be easy as the board are keeping a tight rein on expenses.

Lawrence said today; "The agent is coming up this after noon and we're having another meeting, I'm hoping to conclude a deal until the end of the season. It will either be done today, or it won't be done at all."

The advantage to Town is that Broomes is enjoying himself at Blundell Park and wants to stay but with other clubs, who have more cash available, also showing an interest, it is not a foregone conclusion.

Town fans will be keeping their fingers crossed until later today.
