Groves Swoops On International Goalie!

By: Roger Swindells

With rumours abounding about bids for Danny Coyne and with Steve Croudson not sure of starting the season, Paul Groves has moved to sign an international goalkeeper.

Jamie Waite who played for Thailand aged 15 earlier this year has been offered a contract with Town. He did well when he played for Grimsby Reserves in their 4-3 home reverse against Oldham.

Former Ipswich Town striker Niel Woods is one of the coaches at Grimsby.

Goalkeeper Waite is also involved in a Thailand side that tours England in July with national manager Peter Withe. Waite who lives at Coddenham and plays for Ipswich Wanderers is the second youngest player ever to play senior international football playing for Thailand against Singapore in front of 25,000 fans.

Jamie beats Pele by being the youngest international player by 291 days. He is a pupil at Debenham School and his mother is a Thai.
