Who will win League 2?

New Board Member

MARKET Rasen trainer Michael Chapman has joined the Grimsby Town board and has invested an unspecified amount of cash sum in the club saying;"I want to help and do what I can for Grimsby Town. Survival of the club and staying in the first division are essential.

"Then, when finances permit, and other things come around we can look at the new ground. We have to have ambition and it would be wonderful to build and then eventually get into the Premiership."

In the Grimsby Telegraph report he said; "I'm Lincolnshire born and bred and my father was in the Dambusters 617 squadron during the war. I played football for nearly 30 years until I was almost 50 and I played semi-professional for Wolverton Town in the old United Counties League."

"I came to Market Rasen in 1987 and I've followed Grimsby Town ever since. It's an honour to be invited onto the board and I think it is a wonderful club. I've been very impressed with what Paul Groves and Graham Rodger have achieved and I want to help that continue."

"I was at the Stoke match on Saturday and thought the fans were amazing there, even though they were outnumbered."

Chairman Peter Furneaux said; "We've known him for a long time and he's quite prominent in the area and a big Town fan. We are trying to get a spread of people on the board and he wants a hands-on role which we welcome. He's placed a degree of financial support in the club which will allow us to continue and help us progress."
