Raven Refuses Loan Offer

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 12/11/2002

TOWN defender Paul Raven has turned down a loan move to arch rivals Scunthorpe the Grimsby Telegraph revealed today. Given the OK by Paul Groves to go on a 3-month loan on Friday he rejected the move at the 11th hour due to a thigh strain and has instead gone to Lilleshall for rehabilitation.

Brian Laws wanted Raven for Saturday's Lincolnshire derby against Boston but was told at the last minute he was not available. "Paul had the opportunity to go to Scunthorpe but he's turned it down because he's not fit to play." said Groves.

"It was an opportunity for him to play on a more regular basis and he chose not to go. With the size of our squad he is always going to be in our plans, but when he gets fit he'll be allowed to go on loan if he wants to."

Kabba

Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has confirmed he has made enquiries about taking former Town hero Steve Kabba on loan.

Warnock, who already has Michael Boulding, at Bramall Lane, is also interested in Kevin Kyle of Sunderland.

"I've made enquiries about them both," Warnock said. "But that's all they are at the moment - enquiries, so we'll have to wait and see."
