Good Or Bad Things

AT the start of the season, due to The ITV Digital deal falling through, an ever-reliant side of football was changed to benefit those clubs which lost out - the loan system.
This system was changed and most Football League clubs have used it because the money isn't there to sign new players.
Grimsby Town have used this system to its benefit, and all of the players Paul Groves has brought in since he took the manager's job have all been top class, and must have taken a bit of time to get to come to Blundell Park - and none of them have looked out of place in the first team.
Over the last few weeks I've been reading some people knocking the Club for bring in loan players saying it’s not the way to get a settled team. But looking at our squad we are always going to need them as injuries and suspensions kick in.
It’s OK knocking the club, but the doubters out there would feel robbed or cheated if Town never brought loan players in and we lost matches due to the team being short on strength.
One team that has benefited with the new loan system is Sheffield Utd. They are always on the look out for players that will improve their squad and if it comes off they will be playing Premiership football next season due to being cunning in the loan market.
Another thing people don’t realise is that most clubs are chasing the same player, that’s how Kabba went to Sheffield Utd. Because they had seen what a class player he was at Grimsby Town they bought him for their squad for £250,000.
So it’s OK getting loan players in but why don’t we make an exception with John Oster? We know what class he has and after his previous loan period here with the Mariners he was recalled back from the international wilderness by Wales and joined the other Town players in that squad. If the present board did decide to sign Oster it would demonstrate that they were serious about improving the squad.
Would the supporters therefore back a "Keep John Oster" campaign if one were launched, because if the fans proved that they want John to stay it might sway the Club’s thinking about making his move to Grimsby Town permanent and with stories circulating in the Press that Sunderland want him off their wage bill, if Town act quickly they might pull it off.
He has now said he will not rush into making a decision about his future but he has been on show at Grimsby and no one yet has made an offer for him despite it being common knowledge that Sunderland want to offload him.
Look at last season when we brought in Andy Todd when we needed him and if all supporters were totally honest about our position last season, he was the difference between us going down and staying up. Unlike John Oster he wasn't up for sale, so all the more reason to see if fan and reader power can change either the Club's or Oster's mind in solving this problem
