Town Sign Daws

PAUL Groves has signed Rotherham's Nicky Daws on loan today and he will be expected to be making his debut at the Chesterfield game at Blundell Park tomorrow.

Nicky Daws made the transition from Non-League football to carve out a successful career in the Football League when he joined Altrincham from Flixton in October 1987 as a 17-year-old. He showed maturity way beyond his years and looked destined even then for much higher things. His attributes are consistency and hard work.

An excellent passer of the ball and has become known as a "dead ball" specialist. He also possesses a long throw. He is reported as being "rarely injured or suspended."

He breaks down opponent's attacks with his clever ball play and is a good reader of the game with a reputation of being able to set up attacks from nothing according to the Yorkshire Times.
