We asked for feedback on any subject and we are pleased to add the latest offering from Fishy readers. The opinions expressed are those of the author and are not to be confused with statements made by the chairman.
Spaulding Mariner commented about Alan Pouton and the team performance;
I was recently told by someone who should know, that Alan Pouton will never play football again. The injury he has is not responding to treatment and it looks like he will have to call it a day!
If this is true, it will be a sad loss for the Mariners. Let us hope that the rumour is untrue and he will be back soon but according to a number of people I have spoken to, an announcement will be made soon that he has retired from football.
On good news, the team I saw on Saturday was different to the one I saw at Hartlepools even if the players were the same and I think Nick Daws was the MOM and showed our midfield how it should be done.
Keith Egar however is looking further afield;
Our leader Mr Groves has brought in some quality loan players over the last 18 months. I can understand how some may have slipped through the net.
One however, is an Ex Mariner who has risen through the ranks and been to one of the finest football schools around. That is the Paul Futcher school of timing and positional play.
Why Oh why don't we bring back Peter Handyside from Barnsley.He is the right age, pedigree and knows the Town set up. He could form a rock solid defence along side Crane, Macca, Crowe or Barnard.
Groves must have seen this one, I can only presume the costs got in the way.
Why don't we get Max Clifford to do a PR Job on Jevons then swap him for Handyside?
See you at the Piggery (Hillsborough)
Kevin Blyth airs his opinion on the Fishy and it's subscribers;
I live many miles away from the hub-centre of this site. Personally I think the post and posters are of TOP-NOTCH quality. I am kept informed of all things Grimsby Town and things are , for the most part, done in a friendly informative way.
Sure there are a few disagreements from time to time but generally I am well entertained with this site. I read everything, no matter who posts it and am especially pleased when posts are directed my way. Many people on this site are well aware of my need to come home to England and I feel I get immense support from you all.
Keep up the brilliant work all you Fellow Fishies, You help me to keep my hopes and spirits up. It will once again someday be an honour to be back amongst you, serving you all at my pub, the first one's on the house. Thanks for taking me under your wings and including me in your daily general banter. Cheers and thanks to you all.
This site is by the fans, for the fans, and we will consider articles on any subject relating to the Mariners whether it be related to current news, a nostalgic look back in the past, a story about a player, a game or games in the past, something about Blundell Park or football in general.
