Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Ford's Reggae Boy Aim!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 20/11/2003

GRIMSBY centre back Simon Ford is hoping to be selected by Jamaica for the Reggae Boys' qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The 21-year-old defender is eligible due to both his parents having been born on the Caribbean island.

Currently recovering from a persistent hamstring problem though, London-born Ford's immediate aim is to get back to fitness with the Mariners. "I've just got to get back in the side here and then we'll take it from there," Ford told Mariners Net. Ford is hoping to feature in a Lincolnshire Cup game with the Imps next week.

Meanwhile Town top scorer Mick Boulding was back in training today after missing the last two day's training with a virus. Town's top scorer is hoping to be fit in time for Saturday's clash at Griffin Park with Brentford, meaning Paul Groves will probably have to decide between Darren Mansaram and Iffy Onuora as Quick Mick's partner up front.

Last Saturday Mansaram replaced Onuora as a second half substitute and rescued a point at home to Stockport, after a below-par display from the former Sheffield United, Gillingham and Huddersfield target man.

In other news Former Town striker Steve Livingstone has been placed on the transfer list by his new club Carlisle United after a disastrous start with the Cumbrians.
