GRIMSBY Town chairman Peter Furneaux said he is confident that the tide is about to turn for the Mariners but thinks that the club needs the help of the people of Grimsby to get back on track.

In an interview on Mariners Net he sais "It's been a difficult season, lets not kid ourselves," he said. It didn't look like that at the beginning of the season when we saw the squad - but for one reason or another it hasn't worked.

"We've tried our best to change things around. But we need the help of everybody - you cannot do it on your own.

"We are still one of the top club's in the area and we are looking to regain the position where we were.

"It gives, the directors, and I hope the supporters, great heart that one of the areas largest employers has decided to back us - it gives us the impetus to go forward. The only way Grimsby Town is going to move forward is through income that we generate and we can only generate so much in this area - we can't spend more than that."
