We regularly need new Cod Heads, so would appreciate contributions from lifelong supporters of the Mariners. This week's Cod Head is Brett Morris.

Brett Morris

Fishy:
Tell us a bit about yourself.

Brett:
I'm 21 at the moment, and after my first Town game I managed to get to pretty much all the home games in the Buckley/Laws/Buckley eras! before becoming an exile at University. Currently studying in Chicago, USA but made it back for a couple of games over Christmas (including away at Wycombe!!) So have definitely been there through what feels like thin and ..thin - but love GTFC all the same!!

Fishy:
When did you first start supporting the Mariners, and what was your first game?

Brett:
I have been supporting the Mariners since my first game in the old division 4 where we beat Wrexham? 5-1 to seal promotion!! Can't remember what year that was though, but Sherwood was in goal and Garry Birtles notched a hat-trick!!

Fishy:
Who is the best player you ever saw wearing a Grimsby Town shirt?

Brett:
Got to be Super-Clive, such a natural in front of goal. Furthermore, you knew as long as it was 0-0 and you had Mendonca on the pitch, you were always in with a chance of nicking it one-nil!

Fishy:
If there is one game you were allowed to go back in time and watch what would it be and why?

Brett:
Was good fun beating Alan Buckley's West Brom (1-0 I think) at Blundell Park. I remember standing in the Pontoon and the atmosphere was electric - I think Ivano Bonetti put in the winner and we were riding high at the time!

Fishy:
What are your favourite and least favourite away grounds?

Brett:
FAVOURITE - Always had fun at Wembley!
LEAST - I remember watching Town play out a 0-0 draw at Oxford's Manor Ground and it was so so hot, and so exposed I got sunstroke! I'll never forgive them!

Fishy:
What, in your opinion, are GTFC's best and worst seasons since you have been supporting them?

Brett:
Best was finishing 9th in Division One one year, and genuinely being a really hard team to beat. Worst was probably last season.

Fishy:
What is the strangest thing you have ever done at a game?

Brett:
Wanted to take on one of those inflatable sumo-wrestlers during one of Laws's half-time shows, but mighty mariner stopped me in my tracks!

Fishy:
Who is the greatest ever GTFC manager?

Brett:
Would have to be Alan Buckley in my times.

Fishy:
How many games a season do you get to now, and what do you do while Town are playing games that you can't get to?

Brett:
Usually just a handful of games per-season at the moment in between University term time.

Fishy:
Name your all-time starting eleven since you have been watching Town?

Brett:
1. Danny Coyne
2. John McDermott
3. Gary Croft
4. Peter Handyside
5. Richard Smith
6. Paul Groves
7. Gary Childs
8. Alan Pouton
9. Steve Livingstone
10. Clive Mendonca
11. Ivano Bonetti

Fishy:
What's the best-ever atmosphere you remember at a home and away game?

Brett:
Home - Beating West Brom as mentioned before was a great atmosphere, and funnily enough, so was losing to Spurs 3-0 in a league cup game because I was only little and excited to see Gary Lineker et al!
Away - If the Wembley's don't count then I'm not sure - I think I bring the Town bad luck on the road! But beating Scunthorpe at Glanford Park in the Autowindscreens Shield was a good night - right up until our car broke down just outside the ground afterwards (meaning we had to weather a torrent of mocking and abuse from the Scunny fans walking home!)

Fishy:
Do your children support the Mariners?

Brett:
They will do...
