Cramb In Contract Talks

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 29/09/2004

WITH Colin Cramb only at Blundell Park on a non-contract basis, the Mariners are currently in talks with the Scottish striker over a permanent deal. Town face competition for his signature as Cramb already has offers from a Scottish Premier side and a Conference club on the table.

Cramb did his chances no harm of being offered a permanent contract last night, scoring on his debut in an otherwise disappointing 2-1 defeat at Carlisle in the LDV Trophy. The former Crewe forward told Radio Humberside his preference was to stay at Blundell Park and that he was "really happy" at Grimsby.

The Mariners also have two defenders on short term contracts: Dean Gordon and Terrell Forbes, both of whom were brought in as cover for long-term injuries. But with players like Rob Jones starting to come back into the first team, Russell Slade will have to decide soon whether to keep these two on, or let them go.

Former Palace full back Dean Gordon, in particular, has been an excellent addition to the squad, and Slade will probably be keen to keep him on at Blundell Park, if finances allow.
