Cramb Vying for First Team Place

WITH Colin Cramb scoring for the reserves last night in the 3-1 defeat at Boston United, Town boss Russell Slade is under pressure to promote the former Shrewsbury striker to his starting line-up in Friday's trip to pre-season favourites Northampton Town.

Cramb has signed on a non-contract basis after being released by Shrewsbury, and given the chance by Russell Slade to earn himself a new deal at Blundell Park. Cramb will be keen to be given a chance immediately, with offers from other clubs already having come his way to provide an alternative away from Blundell Park if he isn't.

"Colin will certainly be in the 16 for Friday night. He was lively for the reserves and he's in my thoughts," confirmed the Town boss.

Cramb scored on his one and only start since arriving from Shropshire, netting Town's only goal in the LDV defeat at Conference outfit Carlisle, where the Mariners fielded a much weakened side.

Town's three-pronged strike force of Parkinson, Reddy and Sestanovich have failed to ignite this season, with the trio only managing a total of 5 goals in 11 league games. Veteran striker Cramb (30), has scored 81 league goals in 244 appearances over the last 11 years.
