The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Fixture Change/Dyer Trial/Hockless

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 12/10/2004

TOWN's home game with Oxford has been moved from Saturday 18th December to the preceeding Friday 17th (7.45 KO). The move is in recognition of the success of the previous evening game with Cheltenham, when a larger than average attendance was recorded, and the lure of Xmas shopping on the Saturday.

Meanwhile Town have handed a trial to Montserrat international midfielder Wayne Dyer. The 26-year-old played in Montserrat's side for the 2006 World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda, when the 205th-ranked side lost 20-0 on aggregate to Bermuda!

Dyer currently plays for non-league outfit Hinckley United but began his career at Birmingham City, and has also played for Oxford and Walsall. Dyer will appear for the reserves against Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday.

The Fishy is still looking for a reporter for home reserve games. If you are interested please send an e-mail to Rob Sedgwick.

  • Town starlet Graham Hockless could be leaving Blundell Park to go on loan to an unknown club. Grimsby are understood to have had an enquiry about the 21-year-old midfielder, who has had limited first team opportunities under three different Grimsby managers despite being popular with most fans.
