Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Mansaram And Others Missing In Action!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 17/11/2004

DARREN Mansaram looks like missing a welcome return to the first team squad as he continues treatment for a back injury. With Slade short of players, it was a golden opportunity to show what he can do, but now it looks as if he never will get a go.

Slade is trying to bring in some reinforcements in time for Saturday's game against Kidderminster. Normally, one would expect that we could probably do without at least two and still win the game. But nowadays, if we had two extra men on the field there would be no guarantee that we could snatch a draw.

How times have changed.

Jon Daly has gone back to his own club and will not be missed, Reddy is waiting for a ban after his red card incident, Fleming will also be banned after getting 5 yellow cards for being naughty and Forbes is best not spoken about at the moment.

So if Slade does not manage to get a loan or two, it looks like anyone with shin pads and a pair of boots would be welcomed.

This is not good news and it will take a team of heroes to get a result on Saturday but if they play as capably as they showed in the early part of the season, they will have no problem.

On the other hand, if they fail against the bottom club, the manager should go, in my opinion.

Losses not only affect the position in the table but have a drastic effect on gates and this season, the club have been greatly encouraged by the support they have had which means more money in the coffers.

I do not believe any manager is worth losing that for. So Slade has a double responsibility. Survival and keeping the supporters.

I hope he can do both. Otherwise..... Cheerio Mr Slade!
