Barker Says No To Town!

MARINERS boss Russell Slade admitted to failing with his efforts in landing an unnamed striker on Friday but latest news reports indicate that his target was Rotherham United's striker Richie Barker.
The 29-year-old was offered the chance to join League One club Brentford or Grimsby Town on loan but decided to stay at Millmoor and fight for his place in the Rotherham squad who have not won a game so far this season.
It appears that Barker was Slade's last chance to get someone in before Friday's deadline with the Mariners having numerous injuries to key members of the squad.
Slade may be forced to play some who have been on the periphery of the first team squad, which is not always a bad thing.
