Mansaram to Join Halifax

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 19/01/2005

STRIKER Darren Mansaram is to join Conference side Halifax Town for an undisclosed fee. The 20-year-old has been on the fringes of the first team for the last two seasons, but failed to ever make a real impact at Blundell Park. Mansaram had been on loan at The Shay earlier in the season.

Rusell Slade is desperately hoping John McDermott can shake off a knee injury in time for Saturday's big clash with Lincoln City at Blundell Park. Jason Crowe (ankle) and Justin Whittle (ankle) are both injured, and with Ashley Sestanovich and Ronnie Bull suspended, the Town boss will have to stretch his squad to the limits in order to field a side.

  • Meanwhile Town's reserve side lost 2-1 at Hull City this afternoon, with Tony Crane scoring Grimsby's goal in his second match since coming back from injury.

Town: Paul Fraser, Chris Hyam, Glenn Downey, Alan Lamb, Tony Crane, Liam Parker, Giovanni Carchedi, Ashley Hildred, Bobby Lewsham, Ashley Sestanovich, Graham Hockless.

Subs: Darren Mansaram, Paul Ashton, Miles Chamberlain, Danny North.

  • Town's board have met with council leader Andrew de Freitas and North East Lincolnshire Council's Chief Executive George Krawiec in a bid to see if the club can receive help from either local government body with their £720K tax bill. Town face administration and possible extinction if they fail to settle their debt with the Inland Revenue.
