Crowe Given Deadline

RUSSELL Slade has given Jason Crowe a deadline of 24 hours to make his mind up over his contract offer. The former Pompey defender, who has been at Blundell Park for three years, has been looking around for better offers elsewhere after talks with the Town management reached a stalemate.

Slade needs the uncertainty over Crowe to be resolved as soon as possible because he has a replacement lined up for the right-sided player, who can play in virtually any defensive or midfield role.

Although Crowe and his family are settled in the Grimsby area, the 26-year-old has been thinking over his offer for more than a fortnight after being offered a two year deal at Blundell Park earlier this month.

"I want to know that he's staying and can be part of my plans", the Town boss told Radio Humberside. "But if he isn't I've got a replacement lined up in the wings".
