New Signings - Latest

TOWN boss Russell Slade is hoping to sign a new midfielder this week, and continues to try to bring a number of players to the club. 'Keeper Williams is also expected to re-sign for another year shortly, although Slade is still looking to bring in another shot stopper.

Although at the time of writing there are virtually no midfielders at the club, the former Scarborough boss is still looking for another forward. "I still think we could do with another striker," Slade told the Grimsby Telegraph.

The unnamed midfielder is understood to have had experience with a League One club, but Slade is also looking for players to play alongside him in the centre of the park: "I am looking to bring in a couple of midfielders - hopefully one for the left side if possible," said the Town boss.

Winger Andy Parkinson, who played most of last season up front, and veteran Stacy Coldicott (who is still considering a new contract) are the only midfield players still at the club.

"The key for me is to look at players who are versatile and can play a number of positions," said Slade, who is looking to end up with a squad of around twenty professionals.

"I am in a better position than last summer when I had only four players to start with. This year we have several more and I have already secured two new faces [Gary Cohen and Jermaine Palmer] up front", said Slade.
