Macca's Last Season

Date: 04/08/2005

GRIMSBY Town club captain, John McDermott, has announced that he will retire at the end of the coming season saying; "This season is all about enjoyment for me. I aim to go out with a bang and hopefully the club can get promotion."

Macca is 36 years old and is the current player-of-the-season. He joined the club 1986/87 season and has served the club for the last 19 years. He holds the appearances record at Town.

He was appointed club captain in January 2002 by Paul Groves.

Macca is, and always has been, a fan's favourite and has been Mr Reliable who has served under a number of managers, all who have rated him highly.

He will be badly missed.
