The Opposition View: Torquay

THE Mariners will be looking to return to winning ways at home to bottom club Torquay after two impressive away wins last week at Chester and Peterborough.
The first win must have been a relief. Did you deserve not to win the other games?
Big relief, we have been very poor in our opening games. 4 1 at Rochdale was maybe harsh, but we still weren't worth a win.
Do you still think you can bounce back to League One, or is it another relegation battle this year?
We won't bounce back, although we almost all thought we were in with a shout of that pre-season. However, the opening month has opened quite a few eyes in Torbay!
What have been the main changes to your squad over the summer?
The loss of Alex Russell (left) to Bristol City was the major factor, and then we lost top scorer Akinfenwa to Swansea. They were replaced by inferior players and we are still getting used to playing without the great Alex in midfield to drive us on. All the pre-season signings have yet to prove themselves and are coming in for a lot of stick from the supporters.
Do you think your squad is stronger or weaker than last season?
The squad is a lot stronger, but as stated above the quality isn't there
What players should we look out for?
Marriott in goal, Kuffour [left] (when he plays well he REALLY plays well, otherwise you may as well put a 10-year-old girl on the pitch)
Who are your biggest rivals in this division?
Whoever is at the bottom end with us come April (no Exeter or Plymouth,)
Which of the teams you've played so far his impressed the most?
We've been that bad it's hard to tell, they've all looked like Arsenal compared to us
Do you have any pre-conceptions about Grimsby?
Fish!
How many away fans can we expect?
Difficult, we have got a decent away following but at the moment, well I'd say 100 tops
Do you especially remember any previous games between the two clubs?
Can't remember any in my 18 years of support, don't think we've played you in donkeys years
Finally, a scoreline prediction?
Grismby 1 - 2 Torquay (we're on a roll now!)
Cheers
Hope Grits is okay too, top bloke
