Town Take On Newcastle!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 24/09/2005

GRIMSBY have been rewarded for their giant killing of Tottenham with another mouth-watering tie at Blundell Park against Premiership giants Newcastle United. While not as lucrative a tie as one of the big Premiership clubs away, Town's prospects of claiming another scalp are much greater.

The full Carling Cup third round draw is as follows:

Doncaster v Gillingham
Bolton v West Ham
Crystal Palace v Liverpool
Manchester United v Barnet
Chelsea v Charlton
Reading v Sheffield United
Fulham v West Brom
Mansfield v Millwall
Sunderland v Arsenal
Everton v Middlesbrough
Wigan v Watford
Grimsby v Newcastle
Aston Villa v Burnley
Blackburn v Leeds
Cardiff v Leicester
Birmingham v Norwich

Grimsby's tie looks the pick of the round for a possible upset, along with Man Utd v Barnet - and Town could once again be selected by Sky TV as one of their lives games.

Ties to be played week commencing 24 October
