Beat the Bookies: Week 15

LAST week's loss to Bristol Rovers in the cup was predictable and the bookies should have been stung offering 10/3, provided enough people bet on a Pirates' victory.

The story of League Two this year seems inexplicably to be one of fantastic away form, for many teams in the league at least, with the Mariners being perhaps the ultimate case in point. With Town once again at home this weekend, bet365.com's odds of 7/2 for a Macclesfield victory look more than tempting. The Cheshire club's recent form is not bad (notwithstanding their lowly league position), Town's home form and confidence is atrocious, we've lost all our Friday night matches this season, our best player Rob Jones is injured and JPK is on international duty!

The other market which is worth examining is the first Grimsby goal scorer. With Rob Jones not playing, Justin Whittle or Simon Ramsden are likely to be Town's target at corners and free kicks. The pair are ranked 40/1 and 33/1 respectively with bet365.com to score the first (or last) Town goal, although neither have ever regularly found the net. Tom Newey at 16/1 is also plausible as the left back is likely to take penalties in Kalala's absence. Perhaps even more tempting is the 10/3 on offer for the Mariners not to score at all with bet365.com!

Finally Argentina must be fancied to beat England in Saturday's friendly match. The South Americans are a generous 7/5 to triumph over Sven's underachievers with bet365.com.
