Beat the Bookies: Week 4
By: Rob Sedgwick

LAST week's first recommended bet of Bristol Rovers to beat Grimsby came up trumps, but unfortunately Darlington were hammered by Boston. The result, a small profit.

This weekend the Mariners play on Friday night at home to Mansfield, who are unbeaten so far this season, and now have Mick Boulding in their squad. Town return to Blundell Park from two defeats on their travels, and will be looking to bounce back with a win, although that would seem far from likely judging by the fairly pessimistic view prevalent amongst supporters. Astonishingly bet365.com have made Town odds-on to beat the Stags, at 10/11. A draw at 9/4 and an away win at 13/5 are both worth backing - just pick whichever you fancy with bet365.com.
As I mentioned last week , the bookies have made a mistake in making Terry Barwick the favourite to score the first goal. The genuine favourites consequently are longer odds with bet365.com than they normally would be. For instance Mick Boulding is 17/2 to score the first goal.
Elsewhere in the division Hartlepool, who have got off to a poor start, should beat Torquay, whose away record on long trips is usually poor. Pool are 5/6 with bet365.com to win.
This weekend the Premiership starts, and Martin O'Neil's Aston Villa will be the first club to visit Arsenal's new ground. bet365.com rate Villa as 12/1 to shock Arsenal, and don't be surprised if the Gunners have opening night nerves and fail to deliver. Likewise Chelsea are due a bad season, and how about a Man City win at home to rattle their cages? bet365.com go 12/1 for such an eventuality.
Recommended Bets
- 1. Mansfield to beat Grimsby (13/5 with bet365.com).
- 2. Aston Villa to beat Arsenal (12/1 with bet365.com).
