Chairman Appeals For Calm

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 05/09/2006

IN what appears to be 'damage control' Town chairman John Fenty has appealed to the fans today to be patient and support the manager.

Mr Fenty told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I am pleading with the fans to be patient and stick with us.

"It isn't all going to happen overnight. The team is trying to play more football. My message to the doubters is to judge us in three or four months time."

"I honestly believe things will turn around," Mr Fenty added.

"Obviously points are what it is all about and we haven't got enough on the board at the moment.

"It is a difficult time for everyone with results not going our way but we all have to pull together.

On the manager, Mr Fenty told the Telegraph: "There is no question at all that the board is fully behind the manager. Graham's position is not under threat.

"He has his heart and soul in this football club. But he is just starting out in management and needs time to sort the side out."

"It is early days and I personally believe it is very wrong for people to be over-critical.

"We will have to work at it - we can't keep making changes. An awful lot is going on behind the scenes to bring players in who are the right ones for the football club."
