North Picks Up Award

DANNY North has been named as Powerade League Two Player of the Month, beating Darlington's Tommy Wright and Glenn Poole of Brentford to the award. North scored four times in January as the Mariners went on an unbeaten run throughout the month, a run which is still going.
The award means that Town's progress during January has been acknowledged by the outside world, after Alan Buckley failed to pick up the Manager of the Month award at the end of last week, missing out to Rochdale's Keith Hill.
Ironically North is only in third place at the time of writing for the Fishy's own Player of the Month for January, behind Atkinson and Barnes.
Grimsby have currently gone nine games without defeat following the defeat to Accrington Stanley on Boxing Day. The last time the Mariners managed such a feat was in the 1997-98 season, which of course culminated in their famous Wembley double. They have a long way to go to beat the all time unbeaten run of 17 matches which was achieved in 1952 in Division Three North.
