Millers Trouble could benefit Town

ROTHERHAM face the prospect of going into administration for a second time later this month. The Yorkshire side are due in the High Court on Monday for a third time when a judge will decide whether or not to grant a second extension of 10 working days on their notice of intent to appoint an administrator.

Should Rotherham go into administration they would face a ten point penalty, which would see the Mariners leapfrog above them into ninth place. Rotherham are currently in the final play-off spot and face the club below them Chesterfield at the weekend. Although Grimsby's chances of making the play-offs look slim, it would improve their prospects considerably if one of the five or six teams chasing seventh place were taken out of the equation.

Rotherham were relegated last season after starting the 2006-2007 campaign with minus 10 points due to going into administration in the summer.

Obviously it would be much more satisfactory for Grimsby to gain entry to the play-offs by the front door, and the Fishy wishes Rotherham every success in overcoming their financial problems.

  • Town have sold 9,400 Wembley tickets in the first two days of sales. Today is the last for season ticket holders, and tickets go on general sale on Sunday afternoon, with stub holders able to buy tickets in the morning.
