The Forgotten Faces of Blundell Park - Part 3

IT'S easy to forget some of the faces you see in the famous black and white shirt from time to time. You could be walking around Town, in a pub somewhere and then you see a familiar face that you can't quite put a name too.

Here's the third part of my series looking at former Town players and where they are now.

Neilson, Alan - Retired in 2007 whilst with Salisbury City. Is currently the Caretaker manager at Luton Town.

Nicholls, Mark - Former Chelsea loanee, now plays for non league Uxbridge.

Nielsen, David - Plays currently for Brann in Norway.

Nimmo, Liam - Turned out for Spalding United, Wisbech Town, and Gainsborough Trinity since leaving Grimsby in 2004, and currently plays for Holbech United.

Nogan, Lee - Was manager of Whitby Town, but now has returned as a player.

Oswin, Matt - Joined Indiana Fire, before returning to do the non league circuit of Lincolnshire. Was recently with Spalding United.

Palmer, Jermaine - Promissing youngster once, has since played for Grantham Town, Hinckley United, Halesowen Town, Corby Town, Worksop Town and Weymouth. He currently plays for Boston Town.

Parker, Wes - Released in the summer of 2004, Played 4 years with Gainsborough Trinity before signing with Boston United last season. He is currently a Trinity player again though.

Pettinger, Andy - Played with Ossett Town and Armthorpe Welfare. Did have a failed trial with Oldham Athletic in 2006, before returning to Armthorpe. He now plays for Brigg Town.

Pouton, Alan - After retiring at Gillingham, he came back into the non league game with Dover Athletic, before signing for Maidstone United, and now Sutton United.

Rizzo, Nicky - Currently plays for Perth Glory.

Robinson, Paul - Ex Newcastlte striker, loaned twice from Wimbledon over two seasons. Retired with Hordern Coilerry Welfare in 2007, had a trial with Darlington in 2008, but no contract was offered.

Robinson, Paul - Ex Tranmere loanee from 2004. Went on to play for York City, and now plays for Whitley Bay.

Rowan, Jonathan - Went on to play for Kidderminster Harriers, Kettering Town and Gainsborough Trinity. He is currently in his second spell with Boston Town, after having two seasons with Boston United.

Sagare, Jake - Plays for the Yakima Reds in the US Development League.

Santos, Georges - Former player of the season, who after Ipswich and QPR, turned out for Brighton & Hove Albion, Oxford United, Chesterfield, Alfreton Town, Farsley Celtic and Fleetwood Town. He is currently unattached after being released midway through last season.

Sestanovich, Ashley - Played for Chester City, Farnborough, Gravesend and Grays Athletic before being sent to prison for 8 years in 2007 for his part in a botched robbery.

Slade, Steve - After his week long spell with Town in 2005, Slade turned out for Maidenhead United and more recently for Barking.

Soames, David - Played the 2005/2006 season with Armthorpe Welfare before retiring due to his on going injury problems. Is currently a community football coach in North East Lincs.

Taylor, Andy - Currently unattached after starting the new season off with Brigg Town.

Taylor, Robert - Went on to play for Scunthorpe United, Gorleston and Holt FC. Before managing Watton United, Dereham Town and currently Diss Town. He also had a brief spell as Assistant Manager at King's Lynn.

Thompson, Chris - Currently playing for Barrow, and has featured for Northwich Victoria, Droyelsden , Leek Town, Chorley, Scarborough and Fleetwood Town since leaving Grimsby in 2003.

Thompson, Ross - Most recently played for Brigg Town, had spells with Gainsborough Trinity amongst others since leaving Town in 2002.

Thorpe, Tony - Since leaving Grimsby in 2007, he has played for Tamworth, Barton Rovers, Woking, Brackley Town, and Stamford.

Thorrington, John - Since leaving Grimsby in 2004, John has played for Chicago Fire in the MLS.

Ward, Iain - Most recently featured for Brigg Town up until 2008.

Warhurst, Paul - Retired in 2007 whilst Caretaker/Player Manager of Northwich Victoria. Was in line to get the job, but left the club before the new manager was announced.

Wheeler, Kirk - Played for Ossett Albion, Ossett Town, and Barrow in recent years.

Widdrington, Tommy - Player/Manager of Salisbury City.

Willems, Menno - Retired in 2007 whilst playing for Go Ahead Eagles.

Williams, Chris - Former loanee currently plays for non league Fleetwood Town.

Williams, Anthony - Former blunder happy keeper, now plying his trade with Neath Athletic.

Woodhouse, Curtis - Still competes in professional boxing as well as playing for Harrogate Town.

Wrack, Darren - Currently with Kettering Town.

Young, Greg - After Halifax Town went down the toilet, Young signed for Altrincham which is where he remains.

Zhang Enhua - After returning to his parent club Dalian Shide in 2001, Zhang featured in the 2002 World Cup for China. He went on to play for Tianjin Kangshifu and Tianjin Teda before signing for Hong Kong based club, South China. He is currently coaching in Hong Kong.
